How to travel by plane with Air Batteries

Transporting lithium batteries by air can seem stressful, but when done correctly, it is fully compliant with airline and IATA regulations. Below is the recommended procedure used successfully by Manta Foils customers worldwide.

1. Battery Preparation

- Disassemble your Air / Evo battery into individual packs (97 Wh each).

- If possible, place each pack back into its original white packaging.

- If original packaging is unavailable, protect the connectors with tape.

2. Packing Your Luggage

- Place only the batteries in your carry-on luggage.

- Pack all other equipment in checked luggage.

3. At Airport Security

- Remove the batteries from your bag.

- Lay them clearly and visibly in a security tray.

- Expect inspection; this is normal.

Explain calmly: “These are power banks for my surfboard. Each battery is 97 Wh, below the 100 Wh limit.”

Each battery has the 97Wh capacity printed on its casing, along with the UN 38.3 certification label.

4. Documents to Have Ready

- Your airline's lithium battery policy.

*IATA allows up to 20 portable lithium batteries under 100Wh.

5. Final Advice

Stay calm and natural. This process has been used successfully worldwide for over 18 months.
